Children's Miracle Network

Since 1984, Children's Miracle Network and University of Iowa Children's Hospital have worked together to improve the lives of pediatric patients. Locally, Children's Miracle Network is dedicated to raising funds that benefit UI Children's Hospital patients and their families each day.

Proceeds from donations are invested in:

  • New pediatric research and treatments
  • Specialized state-of-the-art equipment sized just right for kids
  • Enhancements for the hospital stay such as books, toys, and computers, as well as things to make a home-like atmosphere
  • Educational materials to help patient families
Children's Miracle Network has raised millions of dollars from individuals, corporations, businesses, and civic groups in this region, and each dollar raised stays at UI Children's Hospital.

UI Children's Hospital is a leader in patient and family centered care:
  • Actively includes the family as members of their child's medical team
  • Provides in-room sleeping accommodations for family members and 16 family suites in the hospital
  • Established the first Child Life Program in Iowa, focused on meeting the emotional and developmental needs of children during their hospital stay
  • Offers patients the ability to develop personal websites through CarePages, a free and easy-to-use service, helping families and friends stay connected and informed
  • Provides educational classes for hospitalized children in preschool through 12th grade through a tutoring program with an on-staff certified teacher.
